People Crash Cars No Matter What

Just found this article and thought it was quite interesting. Apparently cell phone bans don't reduce the crash rates. Now you might assume what I did, that cell phone use rate didn't actually drop but according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (funded by car insurers themselves who will obviously have a large stake in what the report finds) cell use actually did drop in places where bans were in place. Shocking I know. More shocking though is that in the face of all this it didn't lower crash rates. So what really causes all the crashes? I am going to guess that it is idiot drivers who don't pay attention. They don't pay attention when on their cell phone or off them so crash rates don't actually drop.

Just a thought, maybe we should outlaw bad drivers instead of cell phones.
