Another childhood idea going away

The FDA announced recently that they will be releasing a replacement for the food pyramid on June 2. While i look forward to something new, it is sad to see a childhood friend go away. Oh food pyramid you taught me that  eating bread items was most important and that although they were different fruits and vegetables were equal (the old 5 a day campaign). You taught me that beans were a meat and oh so much more. You got a make over not to long ago but it just didn't help. People no longer look to you in awe and say "Oh great pyramid how much of this should i eat?" Goodbye friend. RIP

So what is replacing it? We don't know yet but it is something that is gonna use these six ideas:

  • Enjoy your food, but eat less.
  • Avoid oversized portions.
  • Make half of your plate fruits and vegetables.
  • Switch to fat-free or low-fat (1%) milk.
  • Compare sodium in foods like soup, bread, and frozen meals, and choose the foods with lower numbers.
  • Drink water instead of sugary drinks.

  1. That is just strange. Instead of a pyramid it is going to be a plate. So if a kid comes home from school, "Mommy we learned about the food plate today!" That sounds wierd. They say it will catch people's attention which I guess in America a plate of food might catch people's eye more. Kinda sad. Your Sis.
